George Clarke Ober graduated with highest honors from Georgetown University School of Medicine in 1882. He became a prominent physician on Capitol Hill, and for many years was a member of the Board of Medical Examiners, including nine as the Board’s secretary. He then served as president of the Board, a post he held concurrently with his tenure as grand master of the Grand Lodge in 1910. He was made a Master Mason in Naval Lodge No. 4 in 1889 and a Royal Arch Mason in Washington Naval Chapter No. 7 in 1890.
